New Artwork Collection ~ Between Rivers

Rivers represent the flow of energy, growth, and renewal. They naturally flow and change over time, symbolising the passage of time and the transformative nature of life.

These paintings were inspired by my travels between our current home in Townsville North Queensland to my hometown of Nowra New South Wales. Both towns have beautiful, thriving rivers carving through their centres and when I’m in each place, I feel drawn to them, where I find myself, so I’m forever in a state of travelling between rivers.

The process of painting both the Shoalhaven River and the Ross River has been peaceful and free flowing, while fostering deeper connection to my homes. I find painting from the heart comes most easily.

During my recent trip to Nowra, I was able to sit and paint, observe and absorb the Shoalhaven River in all its beauty and strength. As well as research how other artists and locals admire and interact with such a force. 

Living close to the Ross River in Townsville affords me the opportunity to explore the river way regularly. Each day, I drive over a section of the Ross River with my son and we say; “Good morning river, you look beautiful today!” This little practice has become so powerful in connecting us with a special place and really helps us notice the marvellous ecosystem we pass by.
 
I am quite proud of how these paintings have come together cohesively and I hope you enjoy this special group as much as I have done while creating them.

This collection includes ten original paintings, painted with acrylic on canvas and paper.

The main piece is titled Shoalhaven Reflections: stretched canvas 16x20".

MIDI pieces: Ross River Parkway and Riverside at Bundanon are stretched canvases, dimensions 10x12".
